Coming five weeks after LibreOffice 7.1.2, the LibreOffice 7.1.3 point release is here to address a total of 105 issues across all core components, including Writer, Calc, Draw, and Impress.
According to The Document Foundation, about 25 percent of these fixes are focused on improving the document compatibility with the Microsoft Office file formats, such as DOCX, PPTX, and XLSX.
Details on these bug fixes are available for my tech-savvy readers here and here.
LibreOffice 7.1.3 is available for download right now from the official website as binary packages for DEB and RPM-based GNU/Linux distributions, as well as a source code for those who fancy compiling the office suite.
However, please keep in mind that this is the so-called “Community” edition of LibreOffice, which means that it is mainly supported by members of the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) community and it’s not intended for use in enterprise environments.
For enterprise deployments, The Document Foundation recommends using the LibreOffice 7.1 Enterprise family of products, which receive dedicated support. Visit this link for more details on that.
For end users, the LibreOffice 7.1.3 Community release is targeted at power users and technology enthusiasts who are looking for bleeding edge features of the open-source office suite. If you want a more stable release, The Document Foundation recommends installing the LibreOffice 7.0 series, which is supported until June 2021.
The LibreOffice 7.1 series will be supported until the end of November 2021, and the next point release, LibreOffice 7.1.4, is planned for mid-June 2021 as a worthy upgrade for all LibreOffice 7.0 users.
