Look at this poster for an upcoming Indonesian movie. Does this poster scream quality to you? Where's the composition? Where's the lighting? Why are the characters looking like horrible asset flips? Oh, because they are. One of them didn't even get permission.

Yeah, this is a poster of a movie called Merah Putih One for All, which translates to Red White One for All. Red and white is the Indonesian flag. This poster and the trailer for this movie have been an absolute laughing stock for the whole Indonesian internet, and I will give this movie some international attention because not only that this movie looks god awful, it's airing in our local theaters right next to freaking Demon Slayer. Allegedly, the movie managed to get a theater slot because the producers know some guys who run the theaters. It's quite representative of how the Indonesian government works, actually.

If you thought the poster was an abomination, the trailer will only convince you even more. The first few seconds of the trailer and the title is already shown with the characters hugging each other for no reason. Then it shows some horrendous animation template design that will keep on recurring as the trailer goes on. Seriously, the amount of recycling on this is nuts. That lower third on the bottom left looks horrendously pathetic. It's like they took it straight out of an amateur documentary video next door.

And now, we get to see the characters. The kids have way bigger heads than the adults for some reason. There's no shading whatsoever on any object in this world. The characters look recycled. The audio mixing is so bad I'm not even going to let you hear it because your eyes are already suffering enough witnessing this monstrosity.

The premise of the movie is that the flag for the independence day is missing and these kids have to go out and find the missing flag instead of, oh I don't know, buy a new one that's like super cheap and literally everyone sell them? For those of you who are outside of Indonesia, trying to find someone selling Indonesians flags in August is like trying to find Christmas decorations in December.

It's insane because another animated movie Jumbo was released last year, and it's one of the highest-grossing films of the entire country. This whole thing makes Jumbo looks like a Pixar movie. Battle of Surabaya was Indonesia's attempt on looking like Ghibli, and that was a decent enough attempt released last decade. There's also another upcoming movie called Panji Tengkorak, which are made by passionate Indonesian animators, and have way more standards than whatever this waste of money is.
