ChatGPT Caught LYING!
I really want people to realize the capabilities and limitations of artificial intelligence because some people just really pushed it way too far to a direction that they obviously can't do.
"Caught ChatGPT lying."
This is another installment of people's AI relationship story that genuinely sounds abusive, but let's keep on reading, shall we?
"It was to help me write code and generate some assets for a project; told me it would take 24 hours to complete."
Yeah, that's your first mistake on using ChatGPT, in that you rely too much on it doing most of the work. Oh sure, ChatGPT can make a whole game with a couple sentences, but the game that it's making is something simple like Minesweeper. It's not exactly Baldur's Gate III, except if you're talking about text form.
I do use AI's help for programming on my work, but it's always on little bits and pieces of the programming puzzle rather than the whole software. And even then, it would take around 2-3 revisions for the AI to actually create the piece of the programming puzzle that I actually want. You are relying too much on AI making you a complete product when at best, their products are first draft quality, and it would still need you as human beings to check whether they are up to par with your standards.
"24 hours later, I asked for an update. It said it was done, and it would generate a download link. No download link worked. After 10 attempts of faulty download links, it admitted it never had the capabilities in the first place to create a download link."
Yeah, I'm not surprised. You're asking AI to do something that it cannot reasonably do with the capabilities that it has right now. No wonder the AI is lost.
"I asked what it had been working on this entire time. Turns out, nothing. And lastly after some back and forth it admitted to lying. I asked why, and essentially it said to keep me happy."
I swear. Some people use AI the same way people mistreat androids in Detroit Become Human. I hate to make a reference to that game, but that's the only thing that I can think of. It's like they think that AIs are gods.
As time goes on, I realize that I can't be the judge on the right or wrong way to use AI. You're the one who gets to decide how to use AI in a way that you find beneficial. It's just another tool at the end of the day but at least understand what they can and cannot do.
