So, after spending most of yesterday playing around with my new Aimtrak Lightgun for the PC, I realised today I still hadn't tried out House of the Dead Remake on my PS4 yet, which I'd downloaded about a week ago (after previously giving a the Switch version a go in Ryujinx emulator).

I'd been holding off playing it on my PS4 after initially downloading it in the hope that MegaPixel studio might've patched PS Move support in by now, but that still hasn't happened yet. So I'm playing it here using the Dualshock 4 motion controls. They weren't too bad generally, but a couple of times my cursor was really drifting into the top right corner of the screen. To make up for the disadvantage of playing like this, I turned the auto reload on with 0 second delay and added a bit of aim assist.

I'm still a bit unsure about the art direction they've taken here, everything looks so brown in the first part of the first level, it really looks horrible! Things do get better further on into the game's, but I honestly reckon that the 16 year old and 19 year old

look waaaay better, despite the less advanced hardware they were running on. The most recent arcade edition looks leaps and bounds better too.

I realised as well as I was playing this, I've never actually played the original HOTD 1 all the way through (despite completing 2, 3 and 4 multiple times), so this was a first. Man, that final boss is an absolute bullet sponge, took so fucking long to die and thought my finger I was shooting with was going to cramp up!

Roll on PS Move support!

Edit: Forgot to mention - just before the gameplay in the video here, I'd started a new game and the game froze halfway through the first level on my very first time playing it. Man, really wasn't impressed with that.
