How Apex Legends reached 50 million players with Google Cloud
Google Cloud helped Multiplay, a multiplayer game server hosting specialist from Unity, power a record-breaking @playapex launch. Since the development team didn’t know how many people would play, partnering with Google Cloud was critical to putting an infrastructure in place that would allow the game to work around the world, without network delays, even with a huge number of players.
The result? Apex Legends gained one million unique players during the first eight hours of its launch—without pre-launch marketing or promotional pushes. Within 72 hours, the free-to-play battle royale game from @RespawnEntertainment had 10-million players. After a month? 50 million.
