I love watching this kind of video on YouTube. As a creator myself, I find it really motivational and aspirational to see what some of my favourite content creators are able to earn from their channels, and it's also really useful in giving myself a reality check when I worry things aren't going as well as they could be! I've always been a little wary of making a video like this myself because there's always the potential for backlash and jealousy in the comments, but ultimately I've decided the good outweighs the bad, so here's my lifetime YouTube earnings with a slightly different spin on it than your typical "What I Made in 2020 with xxxk subsribers" video, as I'm focussing more on the hourly rate than the big numbers the totals show.

I hope you see that the message and intention for this video isn't to show off or flex, or to make it look like anyone can get rich easily on YouTube. Instead, I'm hoping people see it for what it is - a demonstration that hard work is rewarded, but that there's no such thing as an overnight success or a get rich quick scheme, even on YouTube! It's taken 5 years of daily uploads and nearly 4000 videos to reach this point, plus another 5+ years before that in other types of content creation. Yes, I made a lot of money in 2020, but if you work it out hourly, after all this time I'm still averaging below the national minimum wage! I'm a 38 year old YouTuber from the UK. I've got a cracking beard and I'm currently going through the autism diagnosis process. I started this channel back in 2017 and by the time I left my full-time job as a Computer Science teacher in July of that year, my partner Anna was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months.
