Square Enix Designed a multiverse, metaplot ending to ruin the otherwise amazing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Whispers and timeline splits rear their ugly heads in the final hours to leave Cloud and Aerith fans with a bitter taste during the conclusion. This video will shower human reaction onto Rebirth's ending, and attempt to explain the (misguided?) direction Square seems to want to go.

This RPG, as positive reviews rightly show, was mostly glorious to play through and remarkably faithful to the beautiful story between Cloud, Aerith and the party. However, the muddy, convoluted logic of fate, whispers, Sephiroth stalking Aerith through multiple realities and his plan to merge all the multiverse worlds together as one, while mentioning 'homecoming' ad nauseam, makes for a confusing narrative that saps some of the emotion out of what should have been a show-stopping conclusion to this Final Fantasy 7 entry.

Whispers were supposed to be obliterated from existence during Remake's finale, but now they're back in 'white' and 'black' forms, with Sephiroth in control of the black whispers while the planet utilizes 'white' whispers, but even this logic fails to make any sense.

There's a whole multiverse subplot about an alternate Aerith giving Cloud her holy materia to give to the 'prime' Aerith, who had her holy materia energy sapped by the whispers. While Zack continues to offer NO clarity to an already confusing ending, meandering around voids and fighting Sephiroth in a whole different world, yet at the same time as Cloud.

Shep shows his visceral reaction to the 'multiple reality' ending that impacts Aerith during a climactic encounter with Sephiroth, and struggles to put into words either what his emotions are, or what the plot is trying to say.

He nevertheless attempts to put together what he thinks is happening in the story, which is no small task. Gamers, please lend Shep your own insights and wisdom as to how the FF7 multiverse is shaping up for the final FF7 game.

Thanks so much for watching, gamers! It's always good to see ya @gamingintrospection !
