Square Enix had a chance to make more Zack Fair fans by expertly designing his alternate timeline metaplot in a way that would help create an even better Final Fantasy 7 with Rebirth on the horizon. Instead, Zack, Vincent, Cid, and even the members of Avalanche are wasted, with whisper reality altering crap that make it even more frustrating for FF7 fans!

Zack is a well known SOLDIER who can dominate in battle, as he has done in Crisis Core and other FF7 games, yet Square Enix decided that TWO Fights would be enough, oh and by the way, good luck taking on Sephiroth, the final boss, with NO knowledge on what Zack's battle abilities are! His quests are super boring too, with a bunch of walking around and trying to figure out the confusing alternate reality (realities?) he's in.

Cid is a glorified fast travel device. His foul mouth is absent and his battle abilities are non existent. He just flies the crew around. Vincent is perhaps the most egregious waste of potential; you fight him in his limit break form, but he then proceeds to just STAND there and become a plot deus ex machina afterwards! The developers did SO LITTLE with these three fan favourites that it boggles the mind. The disrespect shown to these three pillars of FFVII is unprecedented.

To top it all off, despite Square hinting that the journey will be 'unknown' and that so much can change, Biggs, Wedge and Jessie all just DIE anyway, and mostly in the same fashion, so what was the point of the whispers interfering and making everything a meta plot, when they're all just driven back to the same fate??
