How to Activate the microSD Slot on the Switch 2 Without a microSD Express Card!
907As the Switch 2 has just recently released at the time of recording this, the new console comes with a new microSD standard to use: microSD Express. Utilizing the microSD Express slot on the Switch 2 requires the console to be running at minimum firmware 20.1.1 but it also requires a one-time feature update which is triggered by inserting any microSD Express card and connecting to the Internet. This small update is similar to the original Switch's exFAT driver support which required a one-time feature update due to licensing required to use the file system.
The downside here is that many people might want to stay on a low firmware, or wait for the price of microSD Express cards to drop, or both but want to activate this feature for later. This video will show how to trigger the update and get it installed without using a microSD Express card, just a standard microSD card is needed for this!
