Video Transcript:
Step 1. Open a web browser, and then open the Synology DSM.

Step 2. Click "Control Panel" on your DSM home screen.

Step 3. Navigate to the File Sharing section, and then click "Shared Folder." The File Sharing screen is displayed.

Step 4. Click "Create" to open a menu, and then click "Create Shared Folder." The Shared Folder Creation Wizard window opens.

Step 5. Enter a name for your new Synology NAS shared folder, and a description if you want one. Also choose the volume you want your new shared folder to be associated with. Continue working through this section to choose whether you want to hide this folder or sub-folders, or enable a recycle bin. Click "Next" when you're ready to move on.

Step 6. The next screen will prompt you to enable additional security measures, such as either encrypting your shared folder or its contents. Make your selection, and then click "Next."

Step 7. The next screen prompts you to configure advanced settings for your Synology NAS shared folder. This is where you can choose whether or not you enable data checksum and other advanced options. Click "Next" when you're finished.

Step 8. The next screen asks you to confirm your settings. Review this information, and then click "Next" when you're ready to move forward.

Step 9. The next window prompts you to configure user permissions. Modify your shared folder permissions, and then click "Apply." Your new Synology NAS shared folder will be created immediately.
