Step 1. Open a web browser, and then open the Synology DiskStation Manager, or DSM.
Step 2. Click "Control Panel" on your DSM home screen.
Step 3. Navigate to the File Sharing section, and then click "Shared Folder." The Shared Folder screen is displayed.
Step 4. Click to select the folder where your Plex content lives, and then click "Edit." A window where you can edit that folder's settings opens.
Step 5. Click "Permissions."
Step 6. Click to expand the drop-down menu at the top of this section, and then click "System Internal User." A list of those users is displayed.
Step 7. Find the PlexMediaServer internal user in this list, and then click to give that account read/write access. Click "Save" after doing this. Repeat this process to give this user access to any other shared folders where your Plex media is located.
Going forward, Plex will be able to see your media folders on your Synology NAS.
