๐ Want to share your Windows 11 laptop or desktop with others? You can easily add new users and set up accounts, whether itโs for a family member, friend, or coworker. Here's how you can add users and accounts to your device:

4. Add a New User:
Under the Other users section, click on Add account.
5. Choose Account Type:
You will be prompted to add a Microsoft account or a local account:
Microsoft Account: Enter the email address associated with the Microsoft account to add the user. This allows the user to access services like OneDrive, Microsoft Store, and sync settings across devices.
Local Account: If you prefer not to link the user to a Microsoft account, click on I don't have this person's sign-in information and then select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
6. Set Up Account Information:
For a Microsoft account, enter the email and password.
For a local account, create a username and password for the new user.
(Optional) You can add a security question for password recovery in case the user forgets their credentials.
7. Set Permissions:
After creating the account, you can set the account as a Standard user or give it Administrator privileges.
Standard: This user can use apps and change settings related to their account, but cannot change system settings or install software.
Administrator: This user has full control over the system, including the ability to install programs and change other users' settings.
8. Finish Setup:
Once the account is set up, you can sign out of your account or switch to the new user account by clicking Start and selecting the profile icon in the top-left corner.
How to Manage User Accounts:
You can change the permissions (Standard or Administrator) of any user by going back to Settings, Accounts, Family & other users.
From there, click on the account and choose to Change account type to adjust the permissions.
Sign In to New Account:
After the user account is created, they can sign in by selecting their username on the lock screen or at the login prompt and entering their password (or PIN, if set up).
Additional Tips:
If you're using a Microsoft account, it will sync settings and apps across all Windows 11 devices linked to the same Microsoft account.
You can also remove a user account at any time from the Family & other users menu by selecting the user and clicking Remove.
