π Want to expand your workspace by connecting multiple monitors? Windows 11 on laptops and desktop PCs makes it easy to set up and customize multiple displays, ideal for multitasking, gaming, or professional work. Hereβs how to configure multiple displays:
Steps to Set Up Multiple Displays in Windows 11 on a Laptop or Desktop PC:
Open Settings
Click on the Start button, then select Settings, or press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.
Go to Display Settings
In the Settings menu, select System, then choose Display.
Detect and Arrange Displays
Windows will automatically detect connected displays. Under Display settings, youβll see a visual layout of your monitors labeled by number. You can drag these boxes to arrange the displays to match the physical setup.
If a monitor doesnβt appear, click Detect to find additional screens.
Choose Display Mode
Scroll down to Multiple displays and click on the dropdown menu. Choose a display mode:
Duplicate these displays: Shows the same screen on each monitor.
Extend these displays: Expands your desktop across all monitors, allowing each to show different content.
Show only on [1 or 2]: Displays content on only one selected monitor.
Set Main Display
To make a specific monitor your main display (where the taskbar and Start menu will appear), select the display you want, then check Make this my main display under Multiple displays.
Adjust Additional Settings (Optional)
Adjust Display resolution and Display orientation individually for each monitor if needed. Higher resolution can improve clarity, while orientation settings (e.g., portrait) can enhance readability for certain tasks.
Tips:
Shortcut for Switching Display Modes: Press Windows + P to quickly switch between display modes.
Positioning: Arranging displays correctly in Settings will ensure that moving your cursor between screens feels natural.
π‘ Tip: Extended displays are great for multitasking, while duplication is ideal for presentations.
