VLC Media Player allows you to add subtitles directly through the software. You can also adjust the timing of your subtitle to correctly sync it to your movie or show.

To properly sync your subtitles to the audio and video you first want to distinguish the time difference in seconds.

There are two main ways to adjust the delay of your subtitle text. Through the track synchronisation options and by using keyboard shortcuts. Track synchronisation allows you to offset the subtitle speed in seconds. Whereas using the G and H keys on your keyboard will offset the subtitle speed by 50 milliseconds.
