How To BACKUP Or RESTORE A Good Working WIndows 10 Registry
25Sometimes Windows goes wrong! Sometimes it goes VERY wrong!
In some cases it is possible to recover Windows to a working state by undoing any changes that you may have made either directly by editing files or changing registry keys, or sometimes a Windows Update may have killed something important.
A good practice is to have a backup of your system registry or individual keys or strings so if things go wrong you can easily restore them.
One method is System Restore. System Restore points actually take a snapshot of the current registry (and other important files) so the the PC can the "restored" to a previous state. Clue is in the title :-)
Alternatively you can use the Regedit program to import or export either individual keys or the entire registry hive and save it to a storage device or somewhere safe on your computer (ideally in the root of the C: drive for ease of location in DOS)
These are just a couple of methods of managing your registry, there are many other ways to do the same thing. Maybe you can suggest another good method?
