About this video: So you want to start a 24-hour Bukkit server, but you don't know where to start. Well, this video goes through every step of starting a 24-hour Bukkit server. I even show you how to add plugins to a 24-hour Bukkit server. On top of that, we also go over how to start a 24-hour Paper server as Apex Minecraft Hosting has one-click Paper installation. Thus, let's jump right on into it.
The first step in buying a Bukkit server is finding a place to buy it from. For this video, we use Apex Minecraft Hosting as that is my number one server host. We use them to host our own network server actually. You can find the link for Apex Minecraft Hosting in the description above.
Now, let's talk about RAM. For a Bukkit server, with 10 plugins and 10 players, I would recommend 2GB of RAM. Keep upping that for every 20 players or plugins meaning a 40 players server with 20 plugins would need 6GB of RAM. If you go by this rule of thumb, you shouldn't have any RAM issues on your server.
After you have decided on your RAM, go ahead and pay for your server and login to the Multicraft control panel using the info that was emailed to you. Now, it's time to add plugins. Click 'FTP File Access' in the right-hand sidebar. Now, you need to go download FileZilla from the link above. Install it, and enter the information from Apex into FileZilla. Connect, and now you will be logged into the server.
From here, find the plugins folder. This is where you will drag and drop and plugins that you want to install. You can find a list of recommended Bukkit plugins in the description above. These will also work on Paper and Spigot servers. After you have dropped the plugins into your plugins folder, head back to Apex and restart the server. The plugins will install!
