In this video we show you how to provide power to multiple USB and Micro-USB equipped devices to help you clean up your gaming setup.

When I used to work at a large electronics chain where, if you had questions we had answers, one of the things I struggled to maintain was the wiring and connections to our AV wall. We had a dozen TV’s, all playing off the same loop VHS tape, connected to various amps, receivers and speakers so customers could test everything out… It was a nightmare. But working on that AV wall I became very skilled at cleaning up wiring, using different techniques to avoid a rats nest that would frankly not look very good for our customers.

Fast forward 20-years (it really has been 20-years, wow!) and I am reorganizing my media center in my game room in an effort to eliminate extra wiring, hide cables and make things more presentable for when I shoot videos. One thing I hate is having a separate power brick for each device. They take up a ton of space on my surge protector, generate heat and add to the rats nest. Thankfully a lot more systems are coming with the option of USB or Micro-USB power ports which lead me to my latest purchase in a 4-port USB charging hub.

The hub I used is pretty cheap, I got it at Target in the bargain section for 8-bucks. It has a stated current output of 2.4 amps which should power a ton of different items. Unfortunately it does not have the current carrying capacity to power my Nintendo Switch which was a huge bummer, however it provides power for my Gamerz Tek 16-bit HD, SNES Classic Edition and NES Classic Edition without issue. With the open port I was even able to power my EZCap 284 video capture card, pretty sweet!

With this in my media center I was able to eliminate 4 separate power bricks from my surge protector, a huge savings there to start. I was also able to use shorter Micro-USB cables which makes the setup more efficient. Best of all it helped do what I needed, cut down on the rats nest of wires behind my media stand, which was what I wanted in the first place.
