What is a Cookie?
An internet cookie or HTTP cookie is a small piece of data stored on the user’s computer generated by the site you're browsing and is accepted and processed by your computer's web browser. Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember stateful information or to record the user's browsing activity. They can also be used to remember pieces of information that the user previously entered into form fields.
Steps to Clear Cookies:
1. Open up Google Chrome
2. Navigate to the top right hand corner of your browser and left click on the three vertical dots icon. (Customize and control Google Chrome)
3. Left click on Settings
4. Left click on Privacy and Security
5 Left click on clear browsing data
6. Choose between "Basic" and "Advanced"
7. Choose a Time Range
8. Check mark "Cookies and other site data" to clear. There are other options of which you can checkmark to also clear, however this is optional.
9.Left click on the blue "clear data" button.
Your Cookies and other site data has now been cleared from your Google Chrome browser.
Steps to Block Cookies:
1. Open up Google Chrome
2. Navigate to the top right hand corner of your browser and left click on the three vertical dots icon. (Customize and control Google Chrome)
3. Left click on Settings
4. Left click on Privacy and Security
5. Left click on "Cookies and other site data"
6. In "general settings" checkmark the option to "block all cookies".
You have now blocked all cookies. Blocking all cookies is not recommended by Google Chrome.
Why is Blocking Cookies not recommended by Google Chrome?
- Sites can't use cookies to improve your browsing experience, for example, to keep you signed in or to remember items in your shopping cart
- Sites can't use your cookies to see your browsing activity across different sites, for example, to personalize ads
- Features on many sites may break
