How to Connect to 6ghz or 5ghz Connection on PS5 Pro (Wifi Settings)
0Here's how to connect your PS5 Pro to a 5GHz or attempt to connect to a 6GHz Wi-Fi connection:
For 5GHz Connection:
Turn on your PS5 Pro and go to the home screen.
Access Settings:
From the home screen, select the gear icon in the top right corner to enter the "Settings" menu.
Navigate to Network Settings:
Select "Network" from the list.
Set Up Internet Connection:
Choose "Settings" under Network, then select "Set Up Internet Connection".
Scan for Networks:
Your PS5 will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Once the scan is complete, you'll see a list of networks.
Force 5GHz Connection:
If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same SSID (network name), you'll need to manually select the 5GHz band:
Highlight your network, press the "Options" button on your controller (the button with three horizontal lines).
From the menu that appears, select "Wi-Fi Frequency Bands".
Choose "5 GHz".
Connect to Network:
After setting it to 5GHz, select your network again and enter the password if prompted. Your PS5 should now connect to the 5GHz band.
For 6GHz Connection (Wi-Fi 7):
Note: The PS5 Pro supports Wi-Fi 6, not Wi-Fi 7, which uses the 6GHz band. However, if you're attempting this due to misinformation or future compatibility:
Check Router Compatibility: Make sure your router supports Wi-Fi 7 and has the 6GHz band enabled. The PS5 Pro, as of current knowledge, does not officially support Wi-Fi 7 or the 6GHz band.
Future Updates: If Sony updates the PS5 Pro to support Wi-Fi 7 in the future:
The process would likely involve similar steps to selecting the 5GHz band, but with an option for 6GHz in the "Wi-Fi Frequency Bands" menu,
assuming the system software is updated to recognize this band.
Current Limitation: As of now, you won't see an option for 6GHz because the console does not support it. If you see an error when trying to connect to a 6GHz band, it's because the hardware or software does not support it yet.
