If you are wondering how to get into management consulting from undergrad then this video is for you. Management consulting is a vast field with many opportunities for all people from different backgrounds. Starting your consulting career can be very difficult if you don’t know how to make yourself stand out and what to do to beat the intense competition for the limited number of consulting jobs that are available in India today.
Consulting jobs in India are very few in number and still, there are thousands of potential candidates competing for these jobs. Most of these candidates have proven results and past achievements to show in their resumes. That’s why the competition is tough. Becoming a management consultant can get overwhelming if you are not strategizing in advance before applying for management consulting roles. At the beginning of this video, I said that getting into management consulting at an undergrad level will give you a better opportunity to learn.
After that, I’ve briefly explained to you what a day in the life of a management consultant looks like. You’d be working with experienced folks from all walks of life. Great founders and leaders will look up to you for advice and to enrich their decision-making process. This is a very responsible position and would require you to go above and beyond your means to get such an important job. If you want to break into consulting then the best bet is to become an expert in a domain that these consulting companies are operating.
Breaking into management consulting companies for MBB or Big 4 can be a lot easier if you use the internship opportunity link that I have shared above. This internship opportunity will help you improve your profile and also help you become a management consultant. Even if you don’t get into Mckinsey, Bain, BCG, or any other big consulting company, these things would at least help you improve your profile and land better opportunities in Product Management or similar roles in the future.
