How To Create A Blog Post With WordPress 2017
3Welcome to the wonderful world of WordPress. Its very common for new writers to at first be intimidated by WP's interface. Have no fear. We will walk you through
everything. You will have it down after your first post.
1. Watch tutorial video.
2. Reset your password, and save it.
3. Rules & Guidelines
3-A. To save on server space, we upload our video's via url from YouTube.
3.B. We give credit for anything we use but didn't create with a name and Backlink.
4. Headline.
4-A. Headlines should be creative & well thought out.
5. Saving to Draft.
5-A. You can save your work to draft and always come back later.
6. Post Body.
6-A. The post body is the guts of your page.
6-B. Your post should always be a minimum of 300 words for SEO purposes.
6-6. Adding media can greatly increase the value of your post.
7. Adding Media.
7-A. Always give credit for images, videos, music, etc.
7-B. Add a Title, Alt Text, & Description to all images for SEO.
7-C. You can add video by clicking Add Media- Insert From URL.
7-D. YouTube provides 2 links for every vid. The URL doesn't always work.
7-E. If using Google Images, make sure you click on the image to get the full size.
7-F. Clicking on a GI images without opening it gives you thumbnail size.
7-G. Google Images also provide the website link to give credit.
8. Adding Tags.
8-A. You should always add around 5 of the most relevant tags you can think of.
8-B. You can use tag generators, but most of us don't.
9. Categories. (each site is different)
10. Featured image
10-A. Featured Images should be over 636x364px in size. Going to big also can mess your images up.
11. Yoast
11-A. Yoast is an SEO plugin by Google that helps improve your posts SEO score.
11-B. Add the Keyword from your Headline.
11-C. Keywords cannot contain stop words like And & The.
11-D. Edit your Snippet. The Edit Snippet button is above the Keyword field.
11-E. A snippet is the area under your headline when your post is seen in the search engines.
11-D. Snippets should be creative, and describe your posts content.
11-E. You can use the Content Analisis area under the Keyword field to improve your post.
11-F. The lightbox area will turn green when your SEO score is good.
11-F. SEO score should always be green lighted. We don'y worry about the Readability Score.
11-G. The button under the lightbox is for changing your Facebook snippet. I recommend doing that also.
12. Editing.
12. To edit your post, you can open another page with the preview button.
