Here’s how to create a free Minecraft server using Aternos without URLs or brackets:

Go to the Aternos website using your web browser. This is where you’ll set up your free server.

Sign up or log in:
If you’re new, click Play to start signing up. Pick a username, agree to the terms and privacy policy, set a password, and optionally add an email for recovery. You can also sign up with Google for speed.
If you have an account, click Login and enter your details.

Create a server:
After logging in, you’ll see the dashboard. Click the green Create a server button.

Name your server—this will be part of its address, like yourname.aternos.me. Add a custom message if you want, then hit Create.

Configure your server:
You’ll land on the server management page. Adjust settings here:
Pick the Minecraft version, like Java or Bedrock, and a specific release, such as 1.20.4, changeable later in the Software or Version tab.
Set the game mode to Survival, Creative, or another type in the Options menu.

Choose difficulty from Peaceful to Hard in the same menu.
It starts as Vanilla, but you can add plugins or modpacks later if you like.

Start the server:
On the server page, click Start. You might wait briefly in a queue since it’s free and shared, but it’s usually quick.
When the status turns green and says Online, it’s ready.

Join the server:
Copy the server address from the dashboard, like yourname.aternos.me.
In Minecraft, go to Multiplayer, click Add Server, paste the address, name it, and click Done. Then hit Join Server.

For Bedrock, you might need the port too, like yourname.aternos.me:12345, shown on the dashboard.

Invite friends:
Share the address with friends so they can join the same way. Manage access in the Access tab if needed.

Customize if you want:
Add mods or plugins from their respective tabs. Aternos has a built-in library, but no custom uploads.

Upload a world, like an adventure map, via the Worlds tab by dragging a file.
