This is a quick OS Spoofing demonstration using OSfuscate by Iron Geek. Looking at the source code of other programs like these you can see that they modify registry keys, which are stored on your hard-drive. So, I did a quick backup of my registry.

You can do so too by opening regedit.exe (Registry Editor), and going to file, then export.

OS Fingerprinting is a technique used by network engineers, system administrators, and sometimes by hackers to identify the operating system a machine is running. All this is done remotely, over the network/internet. By OS spoofing you are stopping yourself from freely distributing sensitive information about your machine. This information could be aiding hackers in determining which exploits they should try to target your machine. . .
