Snapchat is a mobile messaging platform that makes it easy to share self-destructing messages, pictures and videos. However, whether you tried Snapchat and didn't like it, or you're just reducing the number of messaging apps you want to use and Snapchat didn't make the cut, if you're not going to use the service it's a good idea to fully delete your Snapchat account. It's important to note that when you delete your Snapchat account, your account will be deactivated and you can log back in within 30 days to reactivate it. If you don't log back in to your account after 30 days, your Snapchat account will be fully deleted.

Now let's walk through the steps to delete your Snapchat account in the Snapchat mobile app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Step 1. Launch the Snapchat app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You'll land on your Snapchat home screen.

Step 2. Tap your Snapchat profile icon at the top of the screen. Your Snapchat profile screen is displayed.

Step 3. Tap the "Settings" icon. Your Snapchat settings screen is shown.

Step 4. Scroll down this screen to the Account Settings section, and then tap "Delete Account." You'll be prompted for your Snapchat username and password.

Step 5. Enter the username and password associated with your Snapchat account, and then tap "Log In." The Delete Account screen is displayed, letting you know that your Snapchat will be deactivated for 30 days, and if you don't log back into your account inside of that time frame it will be deleted.

Step 6. Enter the username and password associated with your Snapchat account again, and then tap "Continue." An Account Deactivated screen is shown, reminding you again that your Snapchat account will be deactivated, and will be fully deleted if you don't log back in inside of 30 days.
