How to Delete your Photos & Videos from Gallery App on Android Phone (Best Method)
The best method to delete multiple photos and videos from your Android phone's local storage is by using your device's default Gallery app or a file manager. This method is generally faster for mass selection than other methods.
Best Method: Using the Default Gallery App
While every Android manufacturer (Samsung, Xiaomi, Google Pixel, etc.) has a slightly different-looking Gallery app, the steps for mass deletion are almost universally the same:
1. Open and Select
Open your phone's default Gallery app. (It might be called "Gallery," "Photos," or a similar name).
Navigate to the main view, usually labeled "Pictures" or "Albums."
Tap and hold on the first photo or video you want to delete until a checkbox or selection marker appears on it.
Tap on all the other photos and videos you want to select. You can quickly select a large block of media by tapping the first one, then scrolling to the last one and tapping it, or by dragging your finger across the screen. Many modern galleries have a "Select All" button, usually near the top left or in the three-dot menu (⋮).
2. Move to Trash
After selecting all the media, look for the "Delete" or "Trash" icon (a wastebasket symbol), usually located at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the Delete/Trash icon.
A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the action. Confirm by tapping "Move to Trash" or "Delete."
The selected files are now moved to the app's internal Trash/Recycle Bin, where they will remain for about 30 days before being permanently deleted.
