How to use Phone to Find your Remote with Google TV App (Best Method)
The "Find My Remote" feature is available on newer Google TV devices, such as the Chromecast with Google TV (4K and HD) and Google TV Streamer Voice Remote, and the best method to use it with your phone is through the Google Home app.
The feature works by making the lost remote play a distinct, loud chime for 30 seconds.
Best Method: Using the Google Home App
This method works because the Google TV device acts as the central hub, and the Google Home app on your phone allows you to send the "Find My Remote" command to the hub.
What you need:
A Chromecast with Google TV (4K/HD) or a compatible Google TV device.
The original Voice Remote must be paired to the device and have a working battery.
Your phone must have the Google Home app installed and be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Steps:
Open the Google Home app on your phone (Android or iOS).
Select Your Device: Find and tap on the tile for your Google TV device (e.g., "Living Room TV").
Go to Settings: Tap the Settings (⚙ ) icon, usually in the top-right corner.
Find My Remote: Look for and tap the option that says "Find my remote" or "Find my Google TV remote."
Play Sound: On the next screen, tap "Play sound."
The remote will immediately start to chime loudly for 30 seconds, helping you locate it under couch cushions or in other hiding spots. To stop the sound, simply press any button on the remote once you find it.
