How to Turn Off your Motorola Phone without Touch Screen (Buttons Only)
Turning off a Motorola phone without the touch screen can be tricky because the standard power button press often activates Google Assistant instead of the power menu.
Here are the three most reliable methods using only physical buttons, starting with the simplest.
Method 1: Force Power Off (The Universal Fix)
This method forces the phone's hardware to shut down, regardless of what's happening on the screen. It is the most reliable way to power off an unresponsive Android device.
Action: Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down Button simultaneously.
Duration: Hold both buttons down continuously for 10 to 20 seconds.
The phone will typically shut down completely during this time. If it automatically restarts after shutting down, repeat the process.
Method 2: Accessing the Power Menu (Newer Motorolas)
On many newer Motorola phones, the default way to bring up the power menu is a different combination than the power button alone.
Action: Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Up Button simultaneously.
Result: This should bring up the Power Off / Restart menu. Since your screen is broken, you cannot tap the "Power off" option. You must use the button navigation method below.
If the Power Menu Appears (Blind Navigation):
Press the Volume Down button once to move the selection from "Restart" (or the default) to "Power off."
Press the Power Button once to select "Power off."
