How to FIX if you Forgot SCREEN LOCK Password on Motorola Phone (Best Method)
The "best method" to fix a forgotten screen lock password on a Motorola phone is to perform an external Factory Data Reset using the physical buttons.
This process will successfully remove the lock screen, but you must know the Google Account credentials that were previously synced to the phone to complete the setup afterward.
⚠ ️ Critical Warning Before You Begin
Data Loss: This process will erase all data on your phone, including photos, videos, contacts, and installed apps that are not backed up to the cloud.
Factory Reset Protection (FRP): After the reset, the phone will ask you to log in with the last Google Account that was on the device. If you also forgot your Google Account password, you will be locked out of the phone permanently until you can recover it.
Best Method: Hard Reset via Recovery Mode
Use this method when you cannot access the phone settings and need to bypass the forgotten lock.
Step 1: Power Off the Phone
Press and hold the Power button for several seconds until the phone completely shuts down.
If the phone requires the password to shut down, let the battery run out, then charge it to at least 30%, and immediately proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Enter Fastboot/Bootloader Mode
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously.
Hold both buttons until the Fastboot Mode or Bootloader Mode screen appears (it often looks like a command screen with a few text options).
Step 3: Enter Recovery Mode
Use the Volume Down button to scroll down the menu until you highlight Recovery Mode.
Press the Power button to select it.
The phone will restart and display an Android robot on its back with a "No Command" message.
Step 4: Access the Recovery Menu
Press and hold the Power button.
While holding the Power button, press the Volume Up button once and then release both buttons.
The Android Recovery menu will appear.
Step 5: Perform the Factory Reset
Use the Volume Down button to navigate and highlight Wipe data/factory reset.
Press the Power button to select it.
Use the Volume Down button again to select Factory data reset (or Yes on older models).
Press the Power button to confirm. The phone will begin wiping the data.
