WhatsApp Messenger, or simply WhatsApp, is an American freeware, cross-platform centralized messaging and voice-over-IP service owned by Facebook, Inc. It allows users to send text messages and voice messages, makes voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other content.
So, to fix the issue where you get an unexpected error on WhatsApp, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. The first thing you can do to fix the issue is simply to restart your device. Sometimes the issue can be fixed just by rebooting the device.
2. The issue could occur if your internet connection is unstable. So, make sure to get connected to a stable network.
3. Another way to fix the issue is by updating the app. If you have any updates pending for WhatsApp, then make sure to update it to the latest version from the App Store or Play Store.
4. If the issue continues, then go to your app library and tap-hold the WhatsApp app.
From the pop-up, tap on App Info and then tap on Storage.
5. You’ll then have to tap on the Clear Cache option then go back and tap on Permissions.
Make sure that every option is turned on, then go back to WhatsApp and your issue should be fixed.
6. If you still get the issue, then go to your app library and tap-hold the WhatsApp app.
From the pop-up, tap on App Info then tap on Storage, and tap on Clear Data. You’ll then have to tap on Clear.
Once you do that, go back to WhatsApp and log into your account, then the issue should be fixed.
