How to fix Wi-Fi and internet problems after building your PC (or when installing Windows)
86Prawn here with a guide on how to fix your Wifi when you're installing windows on a new PC. In this guide I'm talking about various things, including how to install Wifi drivers, the things you need to know to make this process easier a whole load of other tips.
Wi-Fi and ethernet drivers often don't come pre-installed on the motherboard, which can be a real pain when installing Windows as you usually need to be connected to the internet in order to finish that process.
One solution is to use an ethernet cable connected between your PC and your broadband router. But this might not help if you either cannot do that OR don't have ethernet drivers installed as well.
Not to worry as there are various simple solutions. One fix is to download the drives from the manufacturers website. So you'll need to first know what motherboard you have and then head over to the relevant site and look for the Wi-Fi and LAN drivers. This is obviously not something you can do with your new PC as you don't have internet! Not to worry as you can always go to the site on your phone.
It's worth noting that usually you'll find there's a USB drive included in your motherboard box and that has the drivers you need on it!
You'll also find a Wi-Fi antennae in the box and you'll need that too in order to ensure the internet works properly and that you have a good signal!
