Another game master has asked a question we get quite often. How do you run encounters and adventures for for a small party or even just one player character for that matter. The biggest problem is GMs and DMs are focusing on the game instead of the story. Look to fantasy stories you've read that are usually based around 1 or 2 main characters. Think about the type of story this kind of gaming can lead to. With only one PC in some ways gming should be much easier. Getting one character involved in an adventure is so much easier than a party of six gamers. The whle campaign needs only focus on that one character. Their goals, interests, and development.
