In this video I will show you how to customize your own personal Minecraft servers Message Of The Day using a free online MOTD generator tool.

Steps To Generate, Format, And Add Color To Your Minecraft Servers MOTD:
1. If your Minecraft server is running, stop it by typing "stop" without the quotations in the cmd/terminal window.
2. Next, open up your browser and navigate to https://tools.fadehost.com/motd-generator
3. Once here, you will be on the FadeHost MOTD Generator tool. You should see a black/dark navy text box with placeholder text for you to edit. Delete the placeholder text and enter your own personal MOTD text.
4. Once done format your text by highlighting specific parts of it and select the appropriate formatting above the text box. Formats include: Bold, Italics, Strikethrough, Underline, Remove Formatting, and Obfuscated/Magic Text.
5. Once you have formatted your MOTD, add color by again highlighting parts of your text and by left clicking on "Text Color" with your desired color selection.
6. Once you have finished formatting and adding color to your new custom MOTD text, it's time to generate your custom MOTD ingame preview. To do this, simply left click on the "Generate" button to generate your MOTD ingame preview. You should then see your Ingame Preview at the bottom of the page.
8. Generating your custom MOTD ingame preview will also generate your MOTD Custom Code. If you're happy with your ingame preview and want this to replace the current default MOTD of your Minecraft server, copy the MOTD Code by left clicking on the copy to clipboard icon in the MOTD Code section.
9. Next, locate your Minecraft Server folder containing your server files.
10. Once located, open thes server.properties file with a text editor that's compatible with your operating system.
11. Scroll down to the last line of your server.properties file. You should then see "motd=A Minecraft Server".
12. Delete "A Minecraft Server" leaving only "motd="
13. Paste your MOTD custom code that you copied to your clipboard after "motd="

14. Save the changes made to your server.properties file
15. Rerun your server by executing the minecraft start server command or if you're on windows by simply double clicking on your batch (.bat) file
16. Wait for your Minecraft Server to fully start
17. Once your Minecraft server has started, open your Minecraft client and left click on Multiplayer
18. Once here, Add your Server to the server list by left clicking on "Add Server" and enter your servers name and server address and left click on done.
19. Your Minecraft client will then ping your Minecraft Server and you should then see your new customized MOTD for your Minecraft server. If you do not see your generated MOTD right away, left click on Refresh.
Congratulations you have successfully Generated, Formatted And Added Color To Your Minecraft Servers MOTD.
