In a fantastic move forward for those who haven't attended events, it is now possible to acquire a Mew and Jirachi in Briilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl respectively by having save data for Let's Go Pikachu OR Eevee and Sword OR Shield respectively.
As shown in the video, "double dipping" by having saves from both games will not grant you extra Mew/Jirachi, but you can always make other user accounts on the Switch console itself, and then reobtain Mew and Jirachi by having the conditions met.

To do this, go to Floraroma and speak to the NPCs as shown in the video. They will give you the Mew and Jirachi once per save.

This is a really nice way to go about it and is sure to help collectors who haven't attended events, or who missed the previous infinite obtainable methods for these. In Mew's case, it used to be My Pokemon Ranch, which is dead in the water technically as Wii Eshop is down. There's ways around that but still.

Jirachi can still be obtained from the Colosseum Bonus Disc in the NA version, OR from European versions of Pokemon Channel. Even if you do have the disks in question, you still need to transfer all the way from the GBA games to the newest generation, which is a cumbersome process. So I'm all for skipping all of that and just being handed it.
