The Everburn Blade is one of the best early-game weapons you will find, and in today’s video guide, I will show you how to get the Everburn Blade in Baldur's Gate 3.

First, you need to know that you will have to beat Commander Zhalk, so let’s make sure you have everything you need first. There are three things you will need to get the job done: pick up three chests, recruit your brain friend to become part of your party, and finally, free Shadowheart.

To start, make sure to collect all three chests available before you meet Commander Zhalk. For the first chest, turn back from where you started the game and follow my path all the way to the end.

Once you find the chest, press 'Y' on your controller or right-click on your mouse, then choose the “pick up” option. Next, go back from where you came and keep going straight ahead, past the area filled with fire. Make a left and go up the small ramp in front of you to pick up your second chest.

Then, once again, go back, make a left and keep going straight ahead until you see a door which will give you access to the next area. Then, keep going straight ahead almost until you can see the outside area. At this moment, make a left and keep going until you see a guy with his brain exposed. At this point, make sure you save your game. Talk to the guy and choose option 2 to learn what you'll need to do. Then, choose option 2 again, but this time to inspect the brain. Roll the dice to win, If you fail, just reload the game again. Next, choose option 3 to gently remove the brain from the skull, roll the dice again, and if successful, choose the option to spare the creature. The little brain will become part of your party in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Now, go back from where you came and head outside to meet Lae'zel, who will become part of your party all the way until you defeat Zhalk to get your Everburn Blade. From here, you can choose to skip all the cutscenes or watch them. At the end of the cutscenes, kill some enemies, and then she will join your party.

Next, keep going straight and climb your way to the upper floor. It’s on this floor where you will find and save Shadowheart. As soon as you walk into the new room, she will be on your left, trapped in a tank. Talk to her, and choose option 3, which basically says you will find a way to get the tank opened. Then, keep going straight ahead and go through the first door you find. Right at the entrance, you will find a body; loot the body to find the key to open the tank and save Shadowheart. But don’t leave just yet; keep going all the way to the end of this room to pick up your third and final chest. Now, go all the way back to Shadowheart, talk to her, go through the conversation, and she will tell you to use the key in the machine next to her. At this point, all you have to do is interact with the machine and follow the prompts by choosing the option to use the key. At the end, Shadowheart will be free, and all you have to do is talk to her, and she will join your party.

Now that you have everything you need, let’s start the preparations. First, go to the middle of your map; that’s the entrance to Commander Zhalk's area. Once you get there, go inside the corridor but do not enter yet. Now, open up your inventory by pressing “I” on your keyboard, then drag and drop the first chest to the right side of your screen and at the end of the corridor. Do the same for the next two chests. You will need to make sure the right side is blocked so no one can go through. This will be used to block Zhalk’s minions from joining the fight around round 5.

Next, change your character to Shadowheart, go to her spell section by clicking on the inventory icon or pressing “I” on your keyboard, then hover over to the spell section, and set the Command spell as one of your main spells. You will use this spell to make Zhalk drop the Everburn Blade in Baldur’s Gate 3.

With everything now in place, go ahead and open the door to start your fight with Commander Zhalk. In the first phase, kill the minions first, then move Shadowheart to the center of the battlefield and save the game. Keep moving all characters closer to Commander Zhalk, and when Lae'zel is close enough, that’s when you will use Shadowheart's spell. On her turn, choose the spell called Command, then choose the option that will make Zhalk drop the Everburn Blade. If it does not work, just reload the game, that’s why I made you save it. With the blade on the ground, use either your main character or Lae'zel to pick it up. In this guide, I chose Lae'zel to grab the Everburn Blade. Now, all you have to do is keep taking turns until you kill Commander Zhalk, and don’t worry; without his blade, his attacks are quite weak. Once he’s dead, the mind flayer will turn on you, but you can defeat him quite easily.
