How to Respec in Baldur's Gate 3 - Companions and More - Easy Guide
In today's video guide, I'll show you how to respec your companions in Baldur's Gate 3, as well as your own custom character.
First, you'll need to find Withers. He's located in the Dank Crypt, and I will show you how to find him now. From the shipwreck, head north along the Ravaged Beach until you reach the overgrown ruin fast travel point. Right in front of you, there will be an ancient door that grants access to the Dank Crypt. To make it easier to locate yourself, open your map. Here is where you start the game after the ship crash, and that's where you need to go.
Once inside, you'll encounter two chambers. Be cautious in the first one as it contains two traps: gas vents on the floor and a fire trap on the walls. These traps activate if you open the sarcophagus in the middle of the room. Successful perception rolls will reveal the vents, which can be disarmed with a trap disarming kit. and a button on the pillar to your right that will disable the traps. Stand next to the main sarcophagus, enter turn-based mode by clicking here, then click on the main sarcophagus and roll the dice. If successful, click the button to your right, open, and loot the sarcophagus to obtain a key for the next door. Now, just keep moving north until you get to this room here where you will see a statue against the far wall.
You'll also notice some corpses lying around—loot them before proceeding as they will soon come back to life. On the northwest side of the statue, a perception check will reveal a button. Pressing it opens a secret door leading to Withers' sarcophagus, and animates the corpses will come back to live to face you. If you looted them, they'll be easier to fight. You can loot them again after, and they'll have gold in their pockets.
To recruit Withers, first defeat the enemies, then, you'll need to have a quick conversation with him. He'll ask you a question about life and death before disappearing. Don't forget to loot his sarcophagus. To respec companions or your own character, fast travel to your camp, you will find Wither's here. Speak to Withers and tell him you want to change your class. For 100 gold, you'll access the character creation screen where you can respec your class and ability point distribution, though you can't change your character's appearance.
For your first playthrough, I don't recommend respeccing any origin characters as you'll miss their entire background story. If you're playing as a paladin and became an oathbreaker, Withers won't allow you to respec until you've regained your worth. To do this, talk to the oathbreaker in your camp (he's right next to Withers) and choose the option to retake your oath. This will cost you 1,000 gold. Once you've become worthy again, Withers will allow you to respec.
