4Astarion is one of the first companions available for recruitment, and In today’s video guide, I will show you where to find Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, and also where he goes if you don't recruit him.
As soon as you wake up on the ravaged beach after the Nautiloid crash, you will find yourself at the south of your map. Keep following the main path until you see an intersection. At this moment, take a left and keep walking. Once you see a reddish area, turn left again.
Here, you will need to defeat some enemies, but don’t worry, they are quite easy to defeat. Once that’s done, keep moving towards the outside of this area. Once outside, keep following the main path, and you will finally see where to find Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3.
When you approach him, he'll mention how he's got an Intellect Devourer cornered. No matter what option you pick here, Astarion will bring a dagger to your throat and threaten to kill you if you don't tell him everything you know. Your options here don't matter too much, as eventually, the encounter will become peaceful, even if you end up headbutting him. After the discussion about the Mind Flayers, Astarion will let you know he's interested in finding out more about them, and all you have to do at this point, is choose option number 2, which prompts you to invite him to your party.
Now, you might be wondering where Astarion goes if you don't recruit him or just ignore him. The answer is that nothing happens. Simply put, nothing happens if you ignore Astarion. If you walk away from his offer or simply never approach him to begin with, you can always find Astarion in the same spot on the beach, even after you leave for Act 2 without him.
