Before we can learn how to setup our Minecraft server, we need to download the Minecraft server files. In the description above, you will find a link to download the Minecraft server files. When you click this link, it will actually take you to our website. Here, you will find a text tutorial on how to make a server that is always updated to the latest Minecraft version. This means even if a new version comes out, and the method to host a Minecraft server in 2022 has changed, this article will be up-to-date.
On our site, scroll down and click the green ‘Download Minecraft’ button. This will open up the Minecraft Java Edition Server Download page. On this page, click the green ‘minecraft_server_version.jar’ link. This will start downloading the server.jar right away.
With the server.jar downloaded, we can start setting up our Minecraft server. To do this, create a folder on your desktop called ‘Minecraft Server 2022’. Then, move the server.jar file you downloaded into this folder. Next, open your Minecraft Server folder, and right-click, create new, and select text file. Open this text document and paste the run.bat text from the description above into it. Next, rename the text document to ‘run.bat’. Confirm you are changing the file type, and you will have a run.bat file.
Double click on the run.bat file to get your Minecraft server started. The first time you start your 2022 Minecraft Server, it will fail. Save this EULA file, and double click your run.bat file again. When you do, your Minecraft server will start up!
You can now join your Minecraft server. Just open up Minecraft with your server running, go to multiplayer, click direct connect, and type ‘localhost’ in as your IP address. Join that IP, and you will join into your Minecraft server!
