About this video: Truthfully, this tutorial is very, very simple. However, I do want to talk about what a Minecraft seed is. A seed in Minecraft is what every single world is build it. It dictates how everything in the world is created and generated. From the valleys to the mountains to the rivers and oceans, it is all set by your Minecraft world seed. Finding a seed allows you to recreate it in a different Minecraft world. It also allows you to do things like use tools to find slime chunks or even set your world up on a server. So, without anymore delay, how do you find your seed in Minecraft?
First things first, join into your Minecraft single player world. Once you are in game, just type /seed in chat and hit enter. When you do, your Minecraft seed will appear. That is how to get your Minecraft world seed. You can click the seed in chat to quickly copy it if you want to send it to a friend, use it in another world, or use it a seed tool.
If you do have issues getting your seed though, it could be due to cheats not being enabled in your world. To do this, pause Minecraft by hitting escape, click ‘Open to LAN’, make sure cheats are enabled, and open the world to LAN. You will now be able to do /seed in chat, hit enter, and get your Minecraft seed!
On a Minecraft server, it is a bit harder to find the seed. The /seed command is still the best way to do this. However, you will need OP or owner permissions on the Minecraft server. If you have these, just type /seed in chat like you do in single player. When you do so, your seed will appear where it can be copied by clicking on it like in single play.
