Add Plugins to Your Server!: https://youtu.be/X258Y9ADqYc
About this video: PurPur is a newer server software for Minecraft, but it isn’t something you should ignore either. PurPur is a fork of Paper, and it works with all Bukkit, Spigot, and Paper plugins. Along with that, it also optimizes the Minecraft server software and allows you to get the most performance out of your Minecraft server possible. This is truly incredible if you are running a Minecraft server on low-end hardware or just want to get as little lag as possible on your sever.
First things first, we need to download the PurPur server file. You can find a link in the description above that will take you to the official PurPur download page. On this page, make sure the 1.20.1 version is selected. Then, from there, click the download button on the left-side of the most recent version of PurPur. It will then start downloading. You may need to keep or save the file depending on your browser.
Once you have PurPur downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called “PurPur Server 1.20.1”. Move the PurPur file you downloaded into this folder. Then, rename the PurPur file you downloaded to simply “purpur.jar”.
Next, right-click in the folder and create a new text document. Open the new text document and copy and paste the code from the description above corresponding with the amount of RAM you want to add to your PurPur server. Click File, Save As, and name the file “run.bat”. Then change the Save Type As to “All Files”. Save the file, and you will now have a run.bat file.
Double-click the run.bat file, and the server will try to start. It will fail though generating a few files in the folder including the “eula.txt”. Open the eula.txt file in notepad and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”. Save the file, and double-click the run.bat file again. Your PurPur 1.20.1 server will start!
Now, you are currently the only person that can join your PurPur server. You can do this using the IP “localhost” in Minecraft. This can be good for testing the server and ensuring that everything is working.
For your friends to join though, you will need to port forward. The port you will need forward for a PurPur Minecraft server in 1.20.1 to allow your friends to join is 25565. That port need to be forwarded on the TCP and UDP protocols. This is all covered in-depth in the video.
Once you have port forwarded, it is time to join the server. You can do this using your public IP address which can be found at the link in the description above.
You can also add plugins to a PurPur 1.20.1 server by dropping them in the “plugins” folder in your server’s directory/folder. Make sure to get 1.20 compatible plugins and that you restart your server after adding the plugins.
With that being said, you now know how to make a PurPur server in 1.20.1 with plugins and allow your friends to join it. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft server in 1.20.1, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
