This video shows you steps to make a desktop shortcut for the Cisco Packet Tracer 7.1.1 network simulator program on Linux Mint 19/18.

To create the desktop shortcut:

Step 1: If you haven't installed PT on Linux Mint before, please see the video below.

Step 2: To create a shortcut, first click Home on the Linux desktop and go to the opt / pt / bin directory and move the shortcut file with desktop extension to your desktop.

Step 3: Install the gedit program on your system to edit the desktop extension file. Then open the terminal and execute the sudo su command to switch to Root, then type your root password and press Enter.

Step 4: List the files or folders on the desktop with the ls command and execute the gedit Cisco-PacketTracer.desktop command in the terminal.

Step 5: In the file you opened, edit the Exec area as opt / pt / bin / PacketTracer7 and save the file.

Step 6: Finally, configure the necessary permissions with the chmod command to enable the desktop shortcut icon.
