How to make fizzy sherbet! I Live Experiments with Jon Chase for SORTEDfood I Head Squeeze
We have a very special Live Experiment for you this week. Those dashing young men over at SORTED food have asked us 'What exactly is Sherbet?'
Fizzy sherbet is a mixture of citric acid, bicarbonate of soda, icing sugar and flavourings!
For the recipe:
1 teaspoon of citric acid
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon of icing sugar
1 teaspoon of jelly crystals/powder (feel free to add to more or less depending on how you like it)
Mix them all together and hey presto! You have fizzy sherbet! Nomnomnom.
The reason sherbet bubbles in your mouth is because as the citric acid and bicarbonate of soda reacts with the saliva in your mouth and releases small bubbles of carbon dioxide.
Make sure to try our recipe and let us know how you get on in the comments below!
