How to make studio lights at home for cheap to improve your YouTube videos! DIY
610I was half asleep last night (this morning) around 3am and could not get to sleep so I decided to make a quick and dirty video on how to make studio light fixtures that can be permanently mounted anywhere in your room and powered from a standard power outlet. To build these will cost between $4 - $5 for the fixture and you can use any bulb you want (I would not exceed 100 watt). I am building two of these fixtures to mount directly over the Nerd Cave desk to light from both sides so I can get more detail and less shadows in my videos. I got fixtures that have pull chains so I can easily turn one or both of them on with a quick tug.
The bulb I'm using is from Cowboy Studios and it's a 105 watt CFL photography bulb and produces 500 watt's of light and gives off minimal heat which is exactly what I want for the Nerd Cave since heat is a big issue up here with all the electronics. I used to use two umbrella halogen lights totaling 100 watts of power and it was like cooking a rotisserie chicken being under them.

DISCLAIMER: If you burn your house down trying to make these lights you never saw this video :P I was half asleep when I made this video and will do multiple checks and take temps from the lights before mounting them to the drywall surface and you should do the same.
