Gyoza is the definitive Dimsum hailing from Japan. The renowned taste of Ginger and Garlic goes well together with Sukiyaki, Ramen or even with just rice. This version calls for a Vegetarian version of Gyoza, which tastes the same, albeit just healthier.
I used prepared wrappers to hasten the preparation.
Funny thing is, in the middle of filming, the electricity went out because of the storm. Something about lightning hitting a post nearby killed the light for the whole block. I had to shoot the cooking part later that night when the grid was back on.
The filling is as follows:
Tofu (if your looking for meat, just add Ground Pork)
Cabbage
Onion (better if you have Leeks as well)
Garlic
Ginger
Carrots
Mirin
Soy Sauce
Flour
Sugar
The Sauce contains the following
Water
Soy Sauce
Mirin
Rice Wine Vinegar
Sugar
