In this video I will take you through the process of installing Jellyfin onto your Ubuntu Linux cloud server using Jellyfins very own Ubuntu Linux BASH install script command. Jellyfin is a free open source software media system and that lets you collect, manage, and stream your media to any device from your very own Jellyfin server. Jellyfin allows you to interact with the following media on your Jellyfin media server: Movies, Shows, Music, Live TV & DVR, Books, Photos, and SyncPlay. DigitalOcean will be my server host provider of choice for this video demonstration. I will be using their Droplet service, which is what DigitalOcean calls it's Virtual Private Servers (VPS) also known as cloud servers. To run the Jellyfin BASH install script command on the DigitalOcean droplet, I will be using a SSH (Secure Shell) client known as PuTTY to communicate with my droplet remotely via the SSH protocol. I will also show you how to create directories and upload your media such as movies or TV shows from your local device such as a computer or PC into these directories on your Jellyfin media server. This will be performed using a free File Transfer Protocol (FTP) solution known as FileZilla. SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) will be the protocol of choice to upload media with the FileZilla client. Finally, I will show you how to access and configure Jellyfin to add your media library folders so that you can stream your media!
