How to Manage Manual Reordering Rule in Odoo 18 Inventory | Odoo 18 Inventory Tutorials | Odoo 18
0In Odoo 18's Inventory module, manual reordering rules allow you to manage stock replenishment by reviewing and confirming orders before they are placed. This approach provides greater control over inventory levels and purchasing decisions.
Setting Up Manual Reordering Rules:
Configure the Product:
Navigate to the Inventory app and select Products.
Choose the desired product or create a new one.
Ensure the Product Type is set to Storable Product under the General Information tab.
In the Inventory tab, select the appropriate Routes (e.g., Buy for purchased products or Manufacture for produced items).
Add a Reordering Rule:
At the top of the product form, click on the Reordering Rules smart button.
Click Create to add a new reordering rule.
Fill in the following fields:
Location: Specify where the product is stored.
Min Quantity: The minimum stock level before replenishment is considered.
Max Quantity: The target stock level after replenishment.
Multiple Quantity: If the product should be ordered in specific multiples, specify the quantity here.
Set the Trigger to Manual:
By default, the Trigger field might be hidden. To display it:
Navigate to Inventory -- Configuration -- Reordering Rules.
Click the adjustment icon (often represented by sliders) on the top right of the list view.
Check the Trigger option to make the column visible.
In the Trigger column for your reordering rule, select Manual.
Using Manual Reordering Rules:
Replenishment Dashboard:
Go to Inventory -- Operations -- Replenishment.
Products with manual reordering rules will appear here when their forecasted stock falls below the specified minimum quantity.
The dashboard provides insights into current and forecasted stock levels, lead times, and expected arrival dates.
Placing Orders:
Review the products listed on the replenishment dashboard.
When ready to reorder, click the Order button next to the product.
This action will generate a purchase order (if the Buy route is selected) or a manufacturing order (if the Manufacture route is selected) for the specified quantity.
By utilizing manual reordering rules, you maintain control over your inventory replenishment process, ensuring that orders are placed based on current needs and stock levels.
