About this video: If you want to play Minecraft Java with your friends, this is the video for you! We go over exactly how to play Minecraft with friends in 1.21.7. Specifically, we cover all of the different ways you can enjoy Minecraft with friends in order to help you pick the absolutely perfect and best method for you. Let’s get started!

The first way to play Minecraft with friends is using a LAN world. This requires the person joining your world to be on the same wifi/internet connection as you. However, once they are, you can just go into Minecraft singleplayer, pause the game, and select Open to LAN. Start your LAN world, and your friends will be able to join by going to the “Multiplayer” screen. The LAN world should pop-up automatically.

What if your friends aren’t in the same location as you though? Well, the Essential Mod will allow you to invite your friends to your singleplayer world even if they aren’t on the same connection. When you both install the mod, you can invite them using their Minecraft username similar to Bedrock Edition. There are limitations to Essential, but it is a great way to get started playing with your friends.

Next up is a traditional Minecraft server. There are a lot of benefits to using servers including being able to have mods, 24/7 up time if you are willing to leave your computer online or use a 3rd party host, and generally, it keeps things separate from your Minecraft single player. Generally, playing Minecraft with friends on server you host is the best way to ensure you never lose your world and have a great experience.

From there, we have Minecraft Realms. This is good if you want to have an easy system built into Minecraft. However, I would recomending hosting your own server over realms as it gives you more control.

Lastly, you can play on a public server with your friends. There is a link to where you can find various public Minecraft servers in the description above. However, you don’t control these servers, and if you’re playing survival or something that you would want to keep your progress in, it is worth noting it can be reset anytime.

With that being said, you now know how to play Minecraft with friends in Java Edition 1.21.7. There are tons of different methods of playing Minecraft with friends, so we hope you found the perfect one in this video.
