About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to download and install the controller mod in Minecraft 1.21.7. This will let you play Minecraft Java with a controller. Any controller you can connect to your PC will most likely work with Java Edition using the controller mod.
The specific controller mod we are going to be using is Midnight Controls.there is a link to get Midnight Controls on Modrinth. Once you are there, click “versions” and download the 1.21.7 Fabric version.
Next, we can get the Fabric Mod Loader. This is what will link the controller mod for 1.21.7 to Minecraft allowing them to work together. Getting Fabric is as easy as downloading the installer, opening it, and installing the 1.21.7 version in the installer.
You’ll also need to get the Fabric API mod. This is a mod that is required for most Minecraft mods on Fabric including the controller mod. There is link to get above. Just make sure you get the 1.21.7 version.
Now, we can add the controller mod to Minecraft Java. Open up the Minecraft Launcher, select “Java Edition” and click on “Installations” at the top. Find the Fabric 1.21.7 installation, hover over it and click the folder icon that appears.
Your .minecraft folder will open, and you should have a mods folder here. Open it and drag-and-drop the Midnight Controls and Fabric API mods into the mods folder. Just like that, the controller mod is installed in Minecraft 1.21.7.
Now, play Minecraft using your Fabric installation. Once you are in-game connect your controller to your PC, and it will be recognized in game. By default, the controller is setup very similar to Bedrock Edition, but it can be fully customized in the controls section with your Minecraft options.
