About this video: The Happy Ghast is one of Minecraft’s coolest mobs because it adds so much ambience to your worlds. There is nothing like coming back home after an adventure and seeing a happy ghast flying around your base in the distance.
With that being said, how do you actually get a happy ghast in Minecraft? Well, you will need first need a dried ghast. These can be located in the nether, and are found in Soul Sand Valleys under fossils. These are bone structures that look a bit like rib cages out. There is a 33% chance of finding a dried ghast under these, which you can safely mine with any tool including an open hand.
You an also get a dried ghast by crafting it soul sand in the middle of the crafting table and ghast tears around it. This means you’ll need one soul sand and 8 ghast tears. Lastly, you can trade a gold ingot with a piglin for a 2.13% chance of getting a died ghast.
Once you have your dried ghast, take to the overworld, and place it in water. When you do, a green particle effect will occur. It takes 20 minutes for the dried ghast to spawn into a ghastling once it is placed in water, and there is no way to speed this up.
When it does spawn into a ghastling, you will need to keep waiting as it flys around the area it was originally spawned in. You can speed up a ghastling turning into a happy ghast by feeding it snowballs.
Once your ghastling grows up into a happy ghast, you can lure it to you with a snowball. Most likely, you’ll want to ride your ghast around. To do this, make a harness with three pieces of leather, two glass and a piece of wool. You can this right-click the ghast holding the harness to place it on the happy ghast. Right-click again to start riding your ghast.
Happy ghasts will fly around a 64 block radius from where they were last interacted with. This means you can easily move the around your world if needed.
At this point though, you now know how to spawn a happy ghast in Minecraft. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments, and if we did help you find a happy ghast, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe. Thank you very, very much in advance!
