In case if you are seeing “USB device over current status detected!! The system will shut down after 15 seconds.” message when you are booting your system up, then that is a problem you should address immediately. This problem happens due to a hardware fault (especially, motherboard, PSU unit, USB port) on your computer. Before moving on to the main solutions, you should try the workarounds first and check if they offer any simpler aid to the problem.

Fix-1 Try connecting USB devices one by one-

Disconnecting all of the usb devices and then connecting them one by one will help you to understand which usb device/ port is causing this problem.

1. Shut Down your computer.

2. Disconnect all of the USB devices from their respective ports.

Now, wait for a few minutes. Then do the following steps-

3. Plugin one of the USB devices in a particular USB port.

4. Restart your computer. Check if you are getting that error or not.

Repeat Step-3 and Step-4 with all the USB devices until you identify the culprit USB device/ port.

When you have detected the port which is causing this problem, simply avoid using that particular USB port.

Fix-2 Disconnect all the USB ports present in front-
Disconnecting all the USB ports which are present in the frontal portion of the casing may help you out.

1. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the power cable from your computer cabinet.

2. Disconnect all of the USB devices from their respective ports.

3. Now, from the cabinet, disconnect the front USB plug from your motherboard ( It should be attached with a jumper wire, simply pull out the jumper wire from motherboard socket).

After disconnecting the USB sockets, reboot your computer.

After rebooting your computer, you will see the computer working as fine as before.

Fix-3 Check if a jumper is loose-
Sometimes this problem may happen if a jumper is loosely fitted in the motherboard.

1. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the power cable from your computer cabinet.

2. Disconnect all of the USB devices from their respective ports.

3. Check if a jumper is missing on the motherboard. If you notice a missing connection, plug in a jumper there.
