Should we stop hiding behind 'the science' and recognise we have to make our own decisions? Can we seek to weigh and judge different scientific opinions if we are not ourselves experts? Or should governments simply choose the scientific theories with the most support - or is this a route to irrational and dangerous decision making?
Founder of loop quantum gravity theory Carlo Rovelli, philosopher of science at Michigan State University Heather Douglas, and esteemed analytic philosopher Patricia Churchland discuss how we should respond to disagreement in science. Award-winning science journalist Anil Ananthaswamy hosts.
